Custom Foot Orthotics

Picture
Michelle has received specialized training in assessing biomechanical issues of the legs & feet. She has been providing orthotics for twenty seven years. Traditionally trained to make plaster slipper casts, Michelle uses this training in conjunction with an advanced computerized Gait Analysis & Orthotic prescription program.

Want is an orthotic?

An orthotic, or orthosis is a device or support (such as a brace or splint) for supporting, immobilizing or treating muscles, joints or skeletal parts which are weak, ineffective, deformed or injured. In this case we are referring to a support in the form of an insole that goes in you shoes to relieve or correct a problem, injury or condition. Custom orthotics are made specifically for an individual to correct their specific issues.

How do Orthotics Work?

An orthotic is used to correct the position of the foot at different stages of the gait cycle. Our gait (the way we walk) is very complex and requires significant neurological control, adequate sensory feedback, balance and strength. Orthotics can eliminate unwanted movement, as in overpronation, as well as distribute weight evenly & properly over the sole of the foot.
Michelle uses Footmaxx Custom Prescription Orthotics, They range from accommodative semi-flexible to fully corrective rigid orthotics depending on the needs of the individual.

Cost & Coverage

Orthotics are between $375- $450 depending upon options and extras. Most Extended Health Care Plans have some coverage for orthotics. Please check your plan and Michelle can provide all the documentation you require.
